Air Conditioning Equipment Checklist
Check to make sure that your thermostat is set in the "cool" position.
Make sure that the temperature setting on the thermostat is set lower than the indoor temperature showing on the thermostat.
-
Ensure that the blower motor in your furnace is running. (If the thermostat is in the "cool" position, the furnace blower should be running.)
-
Ensure that your outdoor air conditioning (condensing unit) is running:
-
Check the circuit breakers in the circuit breaker box (or electrical panel), most likely mounted to an outside wall in the back of the house. Are they in the "On" position?
-
Be sure that you have changed your filter in the furnace. An extremely blocked filter can cause your outdoor air conditioner unit to shut down due to lack of proper airflow.

No heat furnace will not ignite
Older furnaces with pilot lights can experience outages due to failed thermocouples, dirty pilot burners, or failed gas valves. On some of the newer models, an ignition control or a hot surface igniter could be at fault. These are typically stocked items that we carry for your convenience. There are many other potential causes that our knowledgeable team is happy to diagnosis and repair.
Intermittent heat heats occasionally, does not keep the temperature regulated, or the furnace is blowing cold airCircuit boards are found in most modern heating equipment. These boards will lock out in the event that a sensor picks up a system malfunction. It will attempt to run approximately 3 times, and then will switch to the lock out mode. This mode will run the fan continuously, and will blow cold air. Also, you may notice a sequence of flashing lights located in the sight glass of the furnace. If so, count and write down the sequence as this will help to guide the service technician to find the cause of the failure. It is best to call a service technician to troubleshoot the problem. However, if it is extremely cold, after you determine the sequence of flashing lights, you can reset the “lock out” by turning the power switch off then back on again. This will allow the furnace to attempt to re-light.

Noisy Furnace
Noisy furnace the noise is noticeably different than its normal operating noiseAll machines will make some operating noise; however, if you hear an unusual sound such as metal rubbing together or grinding, it may mean the motor is failing. Whistle-type sounds could mean your system is having trouble breathing or there is a lack of air. Check your filter to make sure the registers are open. Air movement can create a whistle sound similar to a car window being cracked. If you are experiencing any loud banging, turn off the equipment and call Beam Heating and Cooling, your 24 hour furnace repair company.

Heating and Cooling Maintenance
Maintenance Most manufactures will recommend routine maintenance. This is to be done by a
trained professional because every system requires different procedures. Routine maintenance
prolongs system life, catches small problems before they turn into failures, and insures the
equipment is running at peak efficiency. We recommend having maintenance done twice per year,
once for heating and once for cooling. Get in touch Beam Heating and Cooling team today to get
your heating and cooling problems fixed the right way!
